The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA) was passed by United National Congress and signed by the then president Bill Clinton on August 21, 1996. Some Privacy Myths and Facts:

Myth : One doctor’s office cannot send medical records of a patient to another physician’s office without that patient’s consent.
